Cubs came out swinging, taking an early one run lead in the second inning with a sacrifice fly from Addison Russel, which was caught in foul territory by left fielder Carl Crawford.  The Cubs would go on to only score one more run coming via balk from starting pitcher Mat Latos in the 5th inning.  The Dodgers had 11 hits on the night stringing a few hits together late to take the lead.  LA would end up scoring 4 in the seventh to take the 5-2 lead.

Lester had another solid outing going into the 7th inning.  Through six innings Lester had only allowed 4 hits and 1 run, but when it was all said and done Lester’s final line was 6+ IP,  8 hits, 5 ER, and 7 strikeouts.  Starting the 7th Lester allowed four straight hits while not recording an out.   Mat Latos had a good outing only giving up 2 ER in 4.2 innings, not qualifying him for the win.

Cubs will look to avoid the sweep tomorrow sending their best to the mound.  Jake Arrieta will face newly acquired Dodger Alex Wood at 7 PM CT.
