Prepare yourself Bears fans, you have seen this before. This afternoon Ryan Pace, John Fox and Adam Gase, decided they needed someone knows their system for their preseason game Thursday versus the Cleveland Browns and possibly beyond by claiming Zac Dysert off waivers from the Denver Broncos. Knowing the system has brought Bears fans the likes of Kordell Stewart, Jonathan Quinn, the Shane Matthews Band, and some form of Chad Hutchinson over the past decade.
Zac Dysert went to my alma matter Miami of Ohio. As a Miami graduate, it gives me a smile anytime a kid from Miami or any MAC affiliated school gets a chance. I remember Dysert being athletic but maddeningly inconsistent at Miami. I actually liked his backup better for half of his career there. Because of decent measurables, the Denver Broncos actually drafted Dysert in the seventh round in 2013. He didn’t move from the bench in 2013 although he was on the active roster and was on the practice squad in 2014. With Jimmy Clausen suffering his second documented concussion in 1 year, the Bears are bringing in Dysert to perhaps execute some sort of timeshare with David Fales for Thursday’s game. If Clausen’s symptom’s worsen I can see the Bears placing him on injured reserve, ask Hunter Hillenmeyer how the organization handles head injuries right before the start of the season. If that happens, we as Bears fans will then need to pray Jay Cutler doesn’t get hurt, because then all we have left is someone who “knows the system.”
