Attention! Attention! Read all about it! According to the University of Notre Dame, the Chicago Blackhawks Vice President and General Manager, Stan Bowman, will be inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney/Cicero, Illinois. That’s right! Our very own Stan Bowman! Go ahead, let’s cheers to that!

A 1995 graduate of Notre Dame, Stan Bowman is entering his 15th season with the Chicago Blackhawks. Whoa! I know, can you believe it has been 15 seasons?! During his time with the Blackhawks, Bowman has helped revitalize hockey in Chicago. I mean, with Bowman, Chicago has seen three Stanley Cups since 2010! And, as you may know, this was HUGE for Chicago in gaining our love for hockey back. Not only that, but Stan Bowman is the first General Manager to win multiple championships in the salary cap era—something that was suppose to be hard to do. But Bowman made it look oh so easy.

Joining the Blackhawks in 2001, Bowman served as a Special Assistant to the General Manager during his first four years. From 2005-07 he served as the Director of Hockey Operations before being promoted to Assistant General Manager. He quickly was named the ninth General Manager in franchise history in 2009 and the Blackhawks continue to thrive with him leading the way. This is just further proof of why we should never sweat during the offseason—Bowman knows what he is doing.

What is even more exciting is that Stan Bowman will be joining other former Blackhawks in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame—many of whom you should be very familiar with. These names include, Tony Esposito, Glen Hall, Keith Magnuson, Stan Mikita, Denis Savard, Al Secord, and Dale Tallon. But, don’t forget one other well-known member of the Blackhawks family—Pat Foley! Yes, the voice of the Chicago Blackhawks. For each home game you hear Foley give us a play-by-play of the game, and for his dedication and skills he was inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.

With that being said, let’s raise our glasses and cheers to the one, the only, Vice President and General Manager of the Blackhawks, Stan Bowman! We salute you, Stan Bowman. Congrats on getting into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame! We look forward to many more seasons of you working your magic on our Chicago Blackhawks!
