Since it is a short week the Bears thought they would make some news on everyone’s first day back to work by announcing their captains for the 2015 season today.     Gone are the decade long captain-reins of Brian Urlacher and Pat Mannelly.   While there are some old stalwarts chosen, some of the other veterans on the squad were passed by for the honor.   The captains are as follows:

  • Matt Forte (RB)
  • Jay Cutler (QB)
  • Antrel Rolle (S)
  • Pernell McPhee (LB)
  • Robbie Gould (K)

Will Montgomery, Jared Allen and Martellus Bennett were passed by but the players chosen are vested veterans and should inject some new blood into the role.

In the Roger Goodell buffoonery news, he announced today he will attend this weekend’s Bears-Packers game at Soldier Field.  Goodell, who is refusing to show his face on opening night for Pittsburgh Vs. New England, seemingly will put a damper on the oldest and best rivalry in football.   On Thursday, the Patriots will raise their 2014 championship banner without the presence of the league’s commissioner.  To me, that is extremely messed up.  I guarantee Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will mention that fact on Sunday and we will be hearing non-stop Deflategate talk in between snaps.
