The final game of Bears players WR Alshon Jeffrey & NT Eddie Goldman have been played this season as Jeffrey & Goldman were placed on season-ending injured reserve with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.    The Bears have signed DL’s Greg Scruggs and Terry Williams according to the Bears Twitter page to take their roster spots.   The larger question here did Alshon Jeffrey play his last game in a Bears uniform on 12/20 versus the Vikings?   Rather than pushing the envelope to try and get Jeffrey out there this weekend for the Lions, the Bears shut him down.   Jeffrey, privately, has to be miffed as he is trying to build his value as he approaches unrestricted free agency this spring.   The Bears seemingly are trying to keep his value low as he approaches free agency by placing him on IR.  Jeffrey, who only played in 9 games this year due to a myriad of leg and soft tissue issues, was effective when he was out there but you can say without hesistation this season was a bust for Jeffrey.  Brandon Marshall, who just went over 100 catches this past weekend for the Jets and who Jeffrey trains with in the offseason, needs to teach Jeffrey how to play through nagging injuries.  Say what you will about Marshall, he shows up and plays each and every week.  The same can not be said about Jeffrey through 4 pro seasons, as his rookie year and this year were largely a wash because of injuries.

Scruggs was drafted by Seahawks in 2012 in the seventh round out of Lousville and has been out of football since the end of training camp this year.   Williams is a rookie out of East Carolina was with the Bears this preseason and played well.  He is now back to try and plug the hole created by Ego Ferguson, Goldman, and Jay Ratliff not being around anymore.
