There has not been much to report recently as we have sat around and watched other teams play in the NFL playoffs besides the Bears.   But it seems the Bears are cutting out some intrigue in their offseason as this morning we have gotten this message posted on running back Matt Forte’s Facebook page this morning:

Despite my wishes, my days as a member of the Chicago Bears have sadly come to an end. I was informed earlier this week from the GM that they will not be attempting to re-sign me in free agency. I will remain forever grateful for my time spent in Chicago and being able to play for an organization with such a rich history. My only regret is not being able to win a Lombardi trophy for the best fans in all of sports. I’m excited about the next chapter of my NFL career. But, Chicago will always be home. God Bless and Bear Down!

Forte is an unrestricted free agent and free to go where he chooses.  Personally I was hoping he could end his career where is he is currently number 2 on every single Bears rushing list behind Walter Payton.  Despite missing 3.5 games, Forte still ended the season with over 1,200 total yards from scrimmage and 7 touchdowns.   Let’s just hope he does not sign with the Packers.
