It was an eventful week, to say the least, for the Cubs. After being swept by the St. Louis Cardinals, losing three of four to the Marlins, and sweeping the Reds, the Cubs are ready for rematch of the 2015 National League Championship Series.
Let’s go back to Cincinnati for a second, though.
Monday night was a historic game for Cubs star Kris Bryant. He went 5-5, hitting three home runs and two doubles; something that hasn’t been done since 1913. He is also the youngest Cubs player to hit three home runs in one game. There’s more… Kris had a total of 16 bases Monday night, surpassing the Cubs record of 14. He also was just shy of the major league record of 19 total bases (Shawn Green ’02). Kris also ripped his pants on Monday night. Kris said after the game that it “will be a game he will cherish for a long time.”

Tuesday night was another crazy game as Cubs manager, Joe Maddon, had three pitchers play left field during extra innings.
The Rundown
13th inning- Joel Peralta comes in to replace Trevor Cahill on the mound, at the same time, Joe sends Travis Wood to take over in left.
14th inning- Spencer Patton faces the first batter, Joe switches their positions for the second batter so Patton is in left with Wood pitching, then he switches them once again so Patton gets the third out.
15th inning- Pedro Strop goes out to left field while Travis Wood pitches.
Tonight, the Cubs will start a four game series with the struggling New York Mets, who have dropped their last four games. As you can probably recall, the Mets swept the Cubs out of the playoffs last October, so we can all assume the Cubs want to do serious damage to this Mets’ team.
Pitching Probables
Thursday

After the Mets, the Cubs will return to Wrigley and face the Reds on Independence Day.
