On Monday January 16 Chicago Fire acquired 29-year-old midfield Dax McCarty from New York Red Bulls for $400,000 in general allocation money. This is a trade that I can say no one saw coming. But it is a good pickup? Now the Fire are rebuilding unlike any other seasons we’ve seen a lot of major changes. Dax spent six seasons at Red Bulls, before that playing in D. C United and FC Dallas. Dax McCarty is a leader on and off the pitch, who is going to help the Fire improve and strengthen the midfield. The Fire have had a busy off season and there’s still more to come and out of it they now have a very strong midfield with the likes of Juninho, Dax, Accam and Alvarez and the bench Goossens and Polster is a great midfield. The only position that the fire now have to work on is the defense with rumors of Jonathan Spector to the Fire that would improve and add more experience to the defense, the Fire also need to switch Vincent, he’s young and has a bright future but right now the Fire need to prove themselves and last season Vincent had ups and downs that cost the team. 2017 season is looking very promising for the Fire, this might be their comeback year.
