Saturday’s match against New England Revolution was a massive win for Chicago Fire who were able to have another clean sheet. This was a huge win before hitting the road and going against Canadian side Toronto FC in the following game. The game ended in a 3-0 win for the Fire. The Fire played extremely great together as a team, something I have not witnessed in past 3 seasons, having amazing chemistry and creating great opportunities. The Fire could have had more than three goals, from Nemanja Nikolic’s first chance, to a chance to make a hat trick which was marked as offsides. The German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger scored the first goal of the match in the 45th minute. Shortly after, Nemanja Nikolic scored his third goal of the season in the 47th minute and later scored another goal in the 73rd minute. This match was a game every fan was hoping to see and it resulted with happy fans cheering on their feet. The red card given to New England’s Je-Vaughn Watson early into the game played a huge part with the 3-0 win. The Fire played their greatest game of the season yet. Every player played their heart out and gave everything they had till the last second of the game.

Schweinsteiger making his third appearance for the Fire scored his 2nd goal of the season. He has been a huge help to the Fire and has made a big impact in a short period of time. The change he brought is noticeable, the team has better possession, and makes smarter passes. Ever since Bastian joined, the Fire have been unbeaten for three games. Currently, the Fire is unbeaten at home. The Fire hands down dominated the game, having 76 percent possession because McCarty, Juninho and Bastian are getting more familiar with each other causing them to pass very accurately. This match is by far the best I’ve seen when considering chemistry of the men in red such as: Dax McCarty, Juninho, and Bastian Schweinsteiger playing incredibly well together in this match. The defense played quite well and stayed strong for the entire duration of the 90 minutes to receive the clean sheet. Brandon Vincent and Michael Harrington played well adding pressure and going up to join the attack. The Fire still needs to improve on a lot, but they’re getting better which is evident because each match they play, their team chemistry is improving resulting in more goals. This is definitely a match which the fans have been yearning to see bringing hope to the fans that the Fire is finally turning things around to make it to the playoffs. The Fire played a great game, but needs to keep it up in order to stay on top. The next match is away in Toronto, Canada BMO Field on Friday, April 21st against Toronto FC which will be a change for Bastian Schweinsteiger being his first away match with the Fire and his first time visiting Canada.
