The White Sox pitching was able to keep them around the .500 mark for the first couple weeks of the season while the offense was nowhere to be found. Suddenly, key players such as Tim Anderson, Todd Frazier, and Jose Abreu have begun to step up their offensive games which translates to a better hitting White Sox club.

Following a 7-3 win in Detroit on Friday night, the White Sox have won five straight games, all of which have come against the American League Central. In those five victories, the Sox are averaging 8 runs per game. Combining an offense averaging 8 runs per game and the best pitching in the MLB is always a good recipe for success. Led by Avisail Garcia, the White Sox offense is finally starting to heat up. Garcia continues to lead the American League in batting average. Abreu, Frazier, and Anderson are now beginning to regularly reach base and drive in runs. Other role players such as Matt Davidson and Leury Garcia have gotten out to outstanding starts.

The rebuilding White Sox are now in first place in the American League Central entering play on Saturday. Obviously the 2017 season is still very new. The White Sox likely will not be at the top of this division all season long, but they are headed in the right direction as of now. Similar to recent years, the pitching has been very good for the White Sox, but the offense has struggled to keep the team in games. If the White Sox can finally find a good balance of timely pitching and efficient hitting, they can turn a few heads this season.
