A very dramatic much-needed win by the Men in Red. We saw a strongly motivated side from the Fire today. The Fire fought hard to get the win and keep their home form pitch perfect. The Fire defeated Colorado Rapids Wednesday night with a score of 3-0. Nemanja Nikolic scored in the 15th minute assisted by Brandon Vincent, who is in his sophomore year. Vincent has been playing extremely well this season with helping out the attack and today’s game demonstrated that. In the 57th minute, David Accam received the rebound from a missed shot by Michael de Leeuw. From what looked like was going out of bounds, Accam was quick on his feet to capitalize and make the score 2-0, making that his 4th goal of the season. Nikolic in the 74th minute scored his second goal of the game, ending the game 3-0. Nemanja Nikolic is the top scorer of the league with 10 goals. Matt Polster played very well for his first start of the season. Polster adding a lot of pressure and having 91% pass success was dominating the pitch. Michael de Leeuw had some chances to score but didn’t find the back of the net, though he did get an assist. Michael de Leeuw also played well by creating pressure up top. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Dax McCarty both having over 90% pass success were holding down the midfield well. The team looked very strong today, the defense held up very well, receiving a clean sheet. Little mistakes were made, but nothing big that could have cost the Fire a goal.

The Fire played a great game Wednesday night to receive three points, well needed three points. Chicago Fire currently sitting in 4th fourth will be traveling to face DC United who is currently in 10th place. The Fire has been doing phenomenal at home. Their home form has been very strong this season, not yet losing a single home match. The Fire has won all, but one home game which was tied 2-2 against Montreal Impact. Now, the Fire’s away form hasn’t been so good, having not won an away game yet. The Fire has so far played in 5 away games, losing three of them and drawing two. This Saturday will be a day where the Men in Red can turn it all around and come back home with three points.
