After the Fire’s home win against Colorado Rapids, The Men in Red traveled on the road to secure the bag against D. C United. DC have been struggling this season and can’t seem to find a way out. D.C is currently sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference table with 11 points. Chicago Fire came into Saturday’s game looking confident. Fire knew they had to win this game knowing what form D. C has been in. Fire played smart with the ball and dominated most of the game. David Accam scored the game-winning assisted by Luis Solignac to earn the Fire their third straight win. The Fire continued to add pressure, but couldn’t add any more goals to the sheet. Golden Boot leader Nemanja Nikolic and Michael de Leeuw had many good chances but struggled in finding the back of the net. Late into the match, D. C United fought hard in search of an equalizer, but Matt Lampson stopped it from getting any further.


This match was a great boost in the Fire’s morale. The Fire needed this away win. Chicago Fire has been struggling to get three points on the road. Saturday’s match was the first away win of the season. Fire who were sitting in 5th place before this match is currently in second place. This team is looking like a squad who will compete towards the playoffs. Fire is only getting stronger and stronger by each match. Next match will be at home against F. C Dallas where the Men in Red will be looking to secure a home win. Chicago Fire has yet to lose a home game and will fight to keep it that way.
