Wednesday night was a memorable night for Chicago Fire’s forward Luis Solignac who scored the game-winning goal in the open cup against St. Louis. However, this wasn’t just some ordinary goal, but a goal that can compete for being goal of the year, a scorpion kick. Solignac had gotten a perfect cross from Brandon Vincent recently praised as the Marcelo of the Chicago Fire and giving Solignac a back heel goal, which left everybody’s jaw dropped. The men in red came out of the tough match with a score of 1-0. The second division team St. Louis played a good game against the Fire. Although St. Louis had many chances to level the match, the second division team couldn’t find the back of the net.

The Fire is looking to face New England Revolution this Saturday. Both sides have been having a great season so far. The Fire has been on fire lately recently beating St. Louis in their open cup match and not losing their past 8 games, the men in red have had a solid season so far. This is another important road match for the Fire, the Fire has been solid at home, but their away games can be a bit shaky. The Fire is currently below Toronto FC with 28 points. Toronto is first in the Eastern Conference with 29 points which mean if the Fire defeats New England to receive the three points, the Fire will take over Toronto and will be first in the division. The Fire finished their 2016 season with 31 points. If the men in red defeat New England, they will be sitting at 31 points in just sixteen matches. Now, if you compare last season’s stats to this season’s stats you will know the men in red have gradually changed from their 7 wins, 10 draws, and 17 losses to this season’s 8 wins, 4 ties, and 3 losses. With the changes that came into the club like the acquisition of Dax McCarty, the golden boot leader Nemanja Nikolic, and Bastian Schweinsteiger, the team has become much stronger and has created fear among other clubs. One player who is underrated is Chicago Fire’s defender Brandon Vincent who is in his sophomore year. Vincent has improved a lot this season while playing under Bastian and has been compared to one of the biggest names in futbol, Real Madrid’s defender Marcelo. Brandon Vincent has been creating perfect crosses leading to goals.

The men in red have become bigger and better than the previous years, but this isn’t the end for the men in red who have their eyes on not only on the U. S. open cup, but to also battle for the MLS Cup and to bring back the cup which was last won when the club first started in 1998 with the help of Chris Armas, Piotr Nowak, Lubos Kubik, Frank Klopas and the help of many more. The Fire will be hoping to not only be champions once again but to compensate for their past mistakes and make history.
