Over the next month leading up to #OpeningNight, we’ll be previewing some of the key players on the Bulls for the 2017-2018 NBA Season. We’ll give you our thoughts on what you can expect, as well as a best-case scenario for each player we highlight: Kris Dunn

The main asset acquired in the Jimmy Butler trade. He is coming off of a disappointing season with the Timberwolves. Dunn was known for his athleticism and defensive capabilities but sadly neither of these things were really demonstrated last season. Many Bull’s fans think the increase in minutes will help improve Dunn’s game. However he might not be the best fit in Hoiberg’s system due to lack of shooting. Players like Grant are hungry for the starting PG spot too, so if Dunn wants it he’ll have to impress fast.

The best thing that could happen to the Bulls is Dunn lives up to his expectations. This would mean him showing flashes of being a lock down defender, which is rare for PGs. His athleticism is going to be great along side Zach LaVine. This will not only provide great entertainment for Bull’s fans but also help improve the Bull’s fast break offense. His passing ability will really leave all the pressure on the other guys. It’ll come down to them just having to make their shots. Most of his time should be spent working on his shot which would really help complete his game. A 3pt shot would benefit him a lot in Hoiberg’s system. This would also provide more floor spacing leaving the paint more available for players like LaVine, Valentine, and Zipser to cut through. Dunn himself would also benefit from cutting and taking it to the rim seeing how LaVine has shown signs of being a decent passer. This would also allow Dunn to be able to play next to David Nwaba. That could wind up being one of the best defensive back-courts in the league. All of this only happens of course if Kris Dunn is everything people said he would be. Ever since Rose started struggling with injuries, the Bulls have been looking for a great point guard. Let’s hope Dunn is the point guard that we’ve been waiting for.
