With the preseason on the go and many transfers and rumors going on in MLS, many have been wondering what’s next for Chicago. Even though there hasn’t been any players being brought to the club,  there are many rumors going on. With news of Chicago Fire going after former Dortmund midfielder 31-year-old Jakub Blaszczykowski, who holds a total of 322 appearances and 44 goals in his career, as well as scoring 19 goals in 95 appearances with the Polish National team. Fire have been trying to bring Kuba to the club for the past three seasons. Along with Blaszczykowski, Chicago Fire are in talks with Juan Quintero, 24-year-old Colombian International, who is currently spending his time on loan from Porto.

Chicago Fire has been making a lot of moves this off-season, even though they have yet to bring anyone in, they have been in talks with many big names in Futbol, which leads to former Real Madrid Goalkeeper, Iker Casillas. The 36-year-old Spanish Keeper, who has been rumored to be in talks with the Fire. Casillas is currently playing in Portugal with Porto, after leaving Real Madrid, where he spent his entire career. Casillas has been part of Madrid from 1990 to 2015 where he then left for Porto. The Spanish keeper worked his way from Real Madrid youth academy to Madrid’s Senior team, where he played from 1999-2015 having a total of 510 appearances.

Now thats not the only Spaniard Chicago Fire have been rumored to be in talks with. 33-year-old Fernando Torres, who currently plays for Athletico Madrid. Torres started out his career playing for Athletico Madrid where he scored 82 goals in 214 appearances from 2001-2007. After that Fernando Torres transferred to Liverpool where he played from 2007-2011 scoring 65 goals in 102 appearances. After making his move to Chelsea, Fernando Torres suffered in trying to find the net only scoring 20 goals in 110 matches with Chelsea. Torres never seemed the same since leaving Liverpool, and now with Diego Costa making a return to Atletico Madrid, this may show Torres departing the club, and maybe seeing a move to the MLS.

Now with all these rumors coming into the play the biggest news is Bastian Schweinsteiger negotiating a new contract with the Fire. Since leaving Manchester United and making his move to Chicago Fire, he’s made himself a huge key to the success of the clubs 2017 season. Schweinsteiger has made not only a huge impact on the pitch, but also in the locker room.

With the Schweinsteiger contract extension coming close, hopefully the Fire can sign another big name player who can play alongside Bastian and help Chicago get closer to the MLS Cup.
