A day for the fans.

Chicago Fire will be traveling to Germany to face Bayern Munich. A friendly match, Chicago Fire against Bayern will take place in Munich’s Allianz arena to serve tribute to former Bayern and current fire midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Schweinsteiger spent 13 years with the club, where he won 8 Bundesliga titles, 7 DFB-Pokal German Cup championships. Also helping the club win the UEFA Champions League in 2013, where he won himself Bundesliga player of the year. In 2014 Bastian also helped Germany win the World Cup that took place in Brazil.

Schweinsteiger and the Fire will be making a move to Germany on August 28, to go against the team Bastian spent almost his whole career with. This day will mainly be for the fans. But a big match like this can help the MLS grow more across Europe. With many stars moving to the MLS, having a friendly with the club as big as Bayern will help MLS become more noticed.
