The Cubs have officially signed right-handed pitcher Yu Darvish to a 6-year $126 million-dollar contract.

Darvish and the Cubs come to an agreement just days before pitchers and catchers are due to report to Mesa, Arizona for Spring Training.  The addition of Darvish to the top of the Cubs rotation gives them exactly what they were looking for in the off season.

This signing could open the doors for other big name free agents, namely former Cub Jake Arietta, to sign and break the stalemate that has been driving baseball fans crazy all winter.  It should also put the talks of collusion and a separate Spring Training for free agents to rest.

More details about the impact of the Darvish signing to come…
