White Sox prospect Jake Burger has been diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles. He will require surgery and will be on the shelf for the 2018 season.

This is obviously not what the White Sox had in mind for Burger when they selected him 11th overall in last year’s draft. The injury comes at at time very critical to his development. Jake spent most of last year after being drafted in Class A ball, and this would have been his first full season in professional baseball.
