As we creep into the weekend, NHL rumors, chatter and speculation are all over the social media landscape and air waves. Top insiders are reporting rumors, local insiders are reporting rumors, speculation is everywhere and trades are already being made. Let’s analyze some things to watch over the next few days…

Rumors:

Rumors, rumors, rumors… they’re everywhere from the time Lord Stanley’s Cup is presented to about the middle of July. Large reporters such as Elliotte Friedman, Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger are all reporting big things. However, they tweet for the entire NHL. So, what about the Hawks? Great question!

Rumors are, according to Justin Lowe of hockeybuzz.com, that the Hawks are interested in trading with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the signing rights to forward James Van Riemsdyk (JVR). JVR would make a great addition up front for Chicago, especially on the power play. He was an absolute monster in Toronto when camping in front of the opponent’s net. If a move like this happens and he signs in Chicago, he would help improve a power play that was anemic at best last season. A likely ask, once again per Mr. Lowe, would be a 2019 4th (or middle round pick) and say a player like forward Tanner Kero.

Speculation:

Further speculation and rumor swirls around who the Hawks will pick at #8. Likely names in consideration include defenseman Noah Dobson, forward Brady Tkachuk and forward Oliver Wahlstrom. The belief in the hockey world is that the Hawks favor Wahlstrom if he is indeed available at #8. Otherwise, one of the other two names would certainly be a welcomed addition with the pick.

The other speculation is what will Chicago do with the 27th pick? This is talked about quite a bit because so many circumstances have been reported. Some say use it to acquire an established defenseman, some say it could be used to gain another scoring threat, others even speculate goaltending being bolstered by moving the pick. Whatever it may end up being, there is a good chance the Hawks are not making a selection for themselves at #27.

Hockey will be fun this weekend. Make sure to follow along with Blackhawks Nation on Twitter and Facebook as we analyze all the moves being made and what it means for the Hawks as free agency approaches on July 1st!

What trades do you see the Hawks making? Who are the Hawks picking at #8? #27? Are they trading the 27th pick? Let us know what you think!

Stay tuned Hawks fans… the next few days are going to be so much fun!

Build thru the draft, just like Tallon did. Worked well for the Cubs. Bears seem to be doing that as the Sox. Who knows with the Bulls. Gar/Pax as bad as Bowman. Bowman will find a wau to screw this up.
