After falling to the Columbus Blue Jackets by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday night, the Blackhawks resume preseason action tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. The only “mainstays” in the forward group on Tuesday were Artem Anisimov, Marcus Kruger, and Dylan Sikura. Tonight, Hawks fans will get to see three “star” forwards on the ice.
Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Alex DeBrincat will participate in their first preseason contest tonight against the Red Wings. They will be joined by young center Nick Schmaltz and veteran winger Chris Kunitz. This group and Brandon Saad are likely to make up the top six to start the season if practice line rushes are any indication of Coach Q’s plans. DeBrincat and Kane had incredible chemistry for Team USA at the 2018 IIHF World Championship. Hopefully, they can carry that over to to the Blackhawks if given the chance to play on the same line.
