This Sunday, Fire will be defending their last match of the season at home against DC United. DC were last place in the eastern conference before bringing in the English star midfielder Wayne Rooney. Rooney has no doubt had a great impact to the club and players, bringing DC to the playoffs, sitting in 5th place. United have already clinched their spot, so their fate no longer are in there Fires hands, but a win for the Fire’s last match may keep some fans hopes alive for next season.
Sunday’s match can be the last for many Fire players and possibly head coach Veljko Paunovic. Nearly the entire roster and coaching staff will be out of contracts by December, except Richard Sanchez, McCarty, Katai, And Nikolic. Sunday will be the day most will be fighting for a job next year. But all are letting wondering about Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Chicago Fire have had a tough year, coming off being 3rd place in the eastern conference and making the MLS playoffs to being last in the conferences is not what fans what to see. But on top of that there’s a possibility that there German star may not be with the men in red next year. Chicago Fire have failed to bring in quality signings, with Aleksander Katai, Raheem Edwards being the only good signing this year but costed the only $400k in TAM.
