5 Reasons Why the Bears Will Win SB54
A look at 5 reasons why the Chicago Bears will win Super Bowl 54.
1) Money Man Mitch
Although it has been a bumpy road at times, it seems as if Mitchell Trubisky has finally taken that giant leap forward with his progression this off-season. In a recent interview with Sirius radio, Trubisky said that prior to this season he was mostly worried about the little things. Such as calling the plays correctly in the huddle, memorizing the playbook, reading coverages, and simply just how to be an NFL QB. Add that with a brand new Coach and offensive scheme last season, and it would have been difficult for anybody. But now that Mitch has a year in Nagy’s system under his belt, along with some upgrades at his surrounding skill positions, it truly seems like he is ready to let it fly.
2) Upgraded Skill Positions
Although it may have been hard to see Jordan Howard go this offseason, I think we can all agree it was the right move to make. Howard was a great back, but he just no longer fit in the scheme that the offense was running. The NFL is a passing league now, and you need an RB with great hands and vision, who can contribute in more than just one facet of the game. Plugin: David Montgomery. I was thrilled with this pick. If you could design an RB on Madden to add to this Bears team, he would look a lot like Montgomery.
His vision is unparalleled, he shows great hands out of the backfield, excellent football IQ, and not to mention he led all of FBS in forced missed tackles in final two years at ISU. And finally, the receiving corps. A-Rob finally had a full and healthy offseason and seems to have really developed his chemistry with Trubisky. Add that with Anthony Miller, who I am predicting to have a MONSTER second season. I am also excited to see the progression of young WRs Javon Wims and Riley Ridley.
Add that with some other great FA pickups including Mike Davis and Cordarelle Patterson, it is hard to find a weak spot on this offense.
3) Defense Wins Championships
It is a football tale, as old as time. And with good reason. Of course, you need a good QB, solid run game, special teams, whatever. But there is not a game on this seasons schedule, where I am worried about our defense. We shut down some of the most prolific offenses in the league last season, and this season will be no different. The Bears had undoubtedly the best defense in all of football last year, with one of the most dominant players in the game in Mack (ranked as 3rd best player in the NFL). And I truly think we have only gotten better. The defense really only lost one key contributor in Amos. But what did Pace do? Replaced him with Pro Bowler Clinton-Dix, who just happened to be college teammates with Bears All-Pro Safety Eddie Jackson.
4) Da Bears Attitude
The Bears have not won a Super Bowl since 1985, and have not won a playoff game since 2010. But it finally seems as if they are truly beginning to put all of the pieces in play. This team is young and hungry. Ryan Pace has been aggressive when needed, and patient when called for. Making franchise-altering trades such as bringing in Mack, being aggressive in the draft (trading up for Trubisky and A. Miller) and establishing a “championship” mindset within the locker room. Add all of these together along with an excellent coach in Nagy, and that makes for a championship-caliber team.
5) Just Win Baby!
And finally, it is hard to ignore this teams level of chemistry. From celebrating in “Club Dub” after games, to joking during practices, this team just seems to love playing football together. Their chemistry seems to extend far off the playing field, and into their personal lives. Having great rapport with your teammates on and off the field will only help them. There does not seem to be any large egos that collide, and everyone seems to share a common interest. Win the Super Bowl.
And for those 5 reasons, the Bears will be hoisting the Lombardi at the end of this season.
