Bulls’ NBA2K20 Ratings Revealed
With 2k Games set to release their annual NBA title on September 6th multiple Bulls player ratings have started to leak out.
It took a long time for anybody at NBA 2k to reveal any in-game previews and ratings for the Bulls. The first player to be shown for Chicago was rookie Daniel Gafford. As a 2nd rounder, the developers rated him a 71 overall. That is a very fair rating considering his draft position. It’ll be interesting to see how he plays and if the game can truly capture his electric style. His player model and face scan feel like a 1:1 replica of Gafford himself.
Shortly after Gafford’s release, NBA 2k’s Twitter revealed a collection of other rookies including 7th overall pick Coby White. While the Top 5 picks were revealed early in the summer, Sub Zer0 had to wait a bit longer to see himself in-game. Coby comes in at a 76 overall with goals to raise than to an 80 by the end of the season. In comparison to the other two namely point guards in this draft, Ja Morant (79) and Darius Garland (77), White’s rating fits right where it should be. Coby’s video game self was captured perfectly, although whoever had to work on his hair certainly had a tough time.
NBA 2k themselves have not revealed anymore Chicago Bulls players, however, there were many leaks during the 2k Community Day. The following screenshot from 2k_Japan revealed the ratings for the Bulls entire starting lineup.
Zach LaVine comes in at an 85 overall. In comparison, Jayson Tatum is an 85 overall. So is Trae Young. LaVine is significantly better than both of these players and was still rated the same. Even more puzzling is the fact that Zach ended NBA 2k19 with an overall rating of 86. He hasn’t regressed this offseason, likely he’s gotten better. 2k quickly becomes a popularity contest for the big names and it shows.
Next is Otto Porter Jr. The relatively-new Bull also finishes a point lower than his 2k19 self. The leak confirms Otto as an 80 overall. Again, Otto was spectacular as soon as he was traded to Chicago and didn’t regress this offseason. Another case of a Bulls players skating under the radar. Only Woj knows our true potential.
Unsurprisingly, Lauri Markkanen was slept on as well. He stayed the same as 2k19 and is an 83 overall. To put that in perspective, Kyle Kuzma is an 84, and Jayson Tatum as mentioned is an 85. Lauri is better than both. Lauri has more 30 point games than the Top 10 picks in the 2017 Draft combined, as well as just statistically being better than Tatum. Kuzma has an argument, but he has the luxury of playing alongside LeBron James. The Finnisher will prove the doubters wrong and boost his rating in no time.
Lastly is sophomore center Wendell Carter Jr. Out of all the Bulls, he is likely rated most accurately. Wendell remains at the 78 overall he was given as a rookie. In the 44 games he appeared in his rookie year, he didn’t do quite enough to tip the needle to go any higher. It’s likely he would’ve cracked 80 had he remained healthy and been selected to an All-Rookie Team. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way. Carter’s defensive prowess will be the anchor of the Bulls defense in 2k and this upcoming season.
As always, this is just a video game so ratings should be taken with a grain of salt. Although not the best team available, the Bulls are shaping up to be one of the most fun young teams in the game.
