A Status Update On Lonzo Ball
At the beginning of the month, reports revealed that Lonzo Ball is still experiencing pain in his knee when ramping up basketball activity. In the past week, the news worsened as Bulls fans learned that Lonzo Ball will need another surgery for his injured knee. The timeline for Ball’s re-evaluation is 4-6 weeks after the surgery. However, this does not mean that Lonzo will return to play within that time frame. It could take him longer to be ready for basketball activities, and he has already been ruled out for the start of the season, which means that the Bulls will need role players to step up.
Who Will Start At Point Guard?
Bulls fans should pay attention to the play of guards Ayo Dosunmu, Alex Caruso, Coby White, and Goran Dragic during training camp and preseason. Ayo Dosunmu impressed many fans with his play during his rookie season last year, which he should be able to build upon. Alex Caruso stepped up after returning from his wrist injury and was vital to the Bulls defensive play. Coby White has shown to be a streaky shooter if he is more consistent, a starting role could be granted to him, but his scoring off of the bench could be vital for the team. Veteran Goran Dragic was added to the team as insurance in case Lonzo Ball would not be ready to start the regular season. We know now that Ball will not be ready for the start of the season, which means that the veteran may be in line to start the season as the Bulls point guard.
