Zach LaVine Remains a Bull

The Chicago Bulls are just one of two NBA teams that did not make an in-season trade this season. The other team is the Clevland Cavaliers, which acquired Donovan Mitchell in the offseason. The Chicago Bulls reportedly continued to take offers on LaVine as the NBA’s trade deadline approached. Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Bulls were in talks with the New York Knicks on a Zach LaVine deal. However, no agreement was finalized as the NBA’s trade deadline struck at 2 PM (CT). Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas has preached continuity since the offseason. Karnisovas will address the media at 4:45 PM (CT).

LaVine has had a rocky season averaging 23.6 points per game on 46.4%. LaVine has had stretches where he looked to be in all-star form but also times where he has struggled to find a rhythm. Zach LaVine will remain a Bull for now as the Bulls look to end the season on a strong push.

Around the Leauge

In a week filled with trades across the league, the one that stands out is the mid-night blockbuster that the Suns and Brooklyn Nets agreed on to send Kevin Durant to Pheonix last night. The Los Angeles Lakers sent Russell Westbrook and a lightly protected first-round pick in a three-team deal netting D’angelo Rusell, Malik Beasley, and Jarred Vanderbilt in return. Multiple trades took place on deadline day, including the Clippers acquiring Eric Gordon and Mason Plumlee, the Pistons acquiring former #2 overall pick James Wiseman, Gary Payton returning to the Warriors, and more.

The Bulls are reportedly interested in signing Russell Westbrook if he agrees to a buyout with the Utah Jazz. Chicago has lacked point guard play since Lonzo Ball suffered an injury. Reggie Jackson will reportedly be a buyout candidate, giving the Chicago Bulls another option to fill in the guard spot while Ball remains sidelined.
