The Chicago Cubs are coming off a very disappointing 2023 season.
They looked like a contender at points in the season, but a disappointing September resulted in the team missing the playoffs.

The Cubs still have a solid team on paper and are considered by some to be a World Series contender heading into the 2024 MLB season.

Below, I will look at the odds for the Cubs to win the World Series and to finish atop the NL Central next season.

I will be using a sportsbook recommended by HowToBet.ca, a respected online betting guide for Canadians, for the odds outlined below.

World Series Winner

  • Chicago Cubs to win World Series +2400

The Cubs are 24-1 to win the 2024 World Series, according to the oddsmaker outlined above.  The odds have the Cubs as the 12th favorite in Major League Baseball to become the next World Series champion.

According to the recommended sportsbook for Canadians, the LA Dodgers are the favorites to win the 2024 World Series with odds of +550.  The Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, and Philadelphia Phillies round out the group of six top contenders heading into next season.

National League Central Odds

  • Chicago Cubs +180
  • St. Louis Cardinals +200
  • Milwaukee Brewers +405
  • Cincinnati Reds +450
  • Pittsburgh Pirates +2250

The Cubs are favorites to finish atop the NL Central Division, but the Cardinals, Brewers, and Reds are all considered legitimate contenders at this point in the offseason.  The Cubs finished second to the Milwaukee Brewers (92-70) last season with an 83-79 record.

The Cubs faltered down the stretch, going 5-12 in their final 17 games, to miss out on the final wild-card spot by 1 game.  Chicago will have to avoid a similar end-of-season meltdown next year if they hope to lock in a playoff spot by winning the NL Central.

The odds for both above markets will change during the offseason and throughout the regular season.
