Pete Crow-Armstrong has Chicago Excited for Summer Baseball
When the Major League baseball season rolls into June, we can usually start to separate the pretenders in the league from the contenders.
One big surprise so far this season that doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon is the play of Pete Crow-Armstrong, which has helped boost the Cubs into first place in the NL Central. PCA has shown a display of power and timely hitting that most pundits had not predicted heading into the year.
As of June 27th, PCA was 8th in the majors with 61 runs batted in and third in wins above replacement at 4.5, behind only perennial MVP candidate Aaron Judge. This type of play has Pete Crow-Armstrong squarely in the MVP discussion and most likely headed to his first career All-Star Game.
PCA has been instrumental in the Cubs’ rise to the top of the NL Central, boasting a 48–33 record.
Notably, he has played every inning this season, highlighting his durability and love of baseball.
In a recent game against the Cincinnati Reds, he put on a show with three hits, three runs, and two stolen bases, showcasing his ability to impact the game in a multitude of ways.
The offensive growth shown by PCA has left Cubs fans mesmerized. He has already surpassed his 2024 home run total with 21 homers so far in 2025 and has shown a knack for delivering in clutch moments when the team needs a boost.
Currently, Pete Crow-Armstrong is 2nd in odds to win the National League MVP award at +900, behind only Shohei Ohtani. PCA is widely regarded by Alberta betting apps as a “dark horse” candidate for the award, and just having his name in the conversation with Ohtani shows what kind of season PCA is putting together. Analysts project that if he maintains his current trajectory, he could achieve a WAR (Wins Above Replacement) of over six, a benchmark that past MVPs have hit.
In summary, Pete Crow-Armstrong’s outstanding all-around performance is not only driving the Cubs toward a potential postseason berth but also reinforcing his status as one of the league’s most valuable players.
The excitement level about the Cubs in Chicago this summer is palpable as they have been generally disappointing ever since ending the curse with a World Series victory in 2016.
If PCA and the Cubs continue to play with the confidence that they have shown in the first part of the season, then Chicago might have another parade to plan in late October.
