How the Ben Johnson-Caleb Williams Partnership Has Grown

Caleb Williams admitted earlier this week that it has taken some time, but he and Ben Johnson are finally clicking and getting Johnson to like him.
The Coaching-QB Partnership
He even admitted so during his presser that this entire season has been about building their relationship for long-term growth and continuous success.
But Williams then said that he doesn’t need Johnson to “like” him, but instead meet his standard of playing excellent football, especially in December and January.
Williams wanted that tough coaching. He said it was sorely missed during his rookie year. He has gotten it and plenty more.
Early Season Trouble
If anyone has paid any attention to the Bears over the last 5 years, it has been a disaster start that leads to early mock drafts being thrown around.
Especially after the week 2 debacle that was a 31-point loss in a 52-21 defeat, it was looking grim. While everyone was pointing fingers and panic ran rampant, Johnson’s emotions never wavered.
He has been steadfast in keeping expectations high, but focused on the week ahead itself, one at a time. But Johnson and Williams both knew it would take time, and that early-season struggles didn’t mean a whole lot.
NFC North Champs
I am writing this now that the Bears have clinched the NFC North for the first time since 2018. Sure, they needed some help from the Packers letting Derrick Henry turn back to 2021, but you take any such break.
Bears fans have a lot to celebrate, but much more is out in front. However, in their 1st season together the head coach and quarterback that it starts with have definitely grown as the season has progressed.
Now, we all wait for that playoff atmosphere to come back to Soldier Field in two weeks… unless the Bears get the #1 seed.
