Caleb Williams Files Trademark for ‘Iceman’
Caleb Williams is a businessman.
With all the late-game heroics Caleb Williams and Bears nation helped create the moniker “Iceman,” Williams is now trying to expand his brand for his own benefit.
Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times laid out the groundwork of what Williams is trying to do:
Williams submitted four trademark applications on Monday related to his moniker: one for the name, another for the logo surrounding the name, and two more silhouettees that mimic Williams’ Michael Jordan-esque pose as he completed a pass to Rome Odunze in the Bears’ playoff win against the Packers.
A search of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office shows Caleb Williams Inc.’s “Iceman” applications for sporting goods, footballs, sweatshirts, T-shirts, hats, jerseys, jackets, vest, water bottles, mugs, bags, backpacks, luggage, sunglasses, posters and downloadable trading cards.
Obviously, with all the momentum of what Williams and the Bears did, this adventure makes sense to capitalize on that momentum, plus if the Bears can repeat that success, it only leads to more off-the-field exposure.
Williams Investment Firm Opportunities
Caleb Williams, long before the Chicago Bears drafted him, made a name for himself off his play at Oklahoma and USC. He was so popular that he lived in a penthouse and made well over 10+ million dollars.
He has even made investments through his own investment firm, 888Midas, which focuses on private equity, venture capital, and real estate.
The firm has made such investments in Athletic Brewing, Function Health, Goop Kitchen, and Boston Legacy FC (a new National Women’s Soccer League team).
This is all supposed to be a model that “blends cultural relevance with long-term value creation,” and both Williams and his dad, Carl, were introduced to this even before Caleb stepped onto a college campus.
Year 3 Success
It is no secret why people are obviously buying into Caleb Williams’ success. Now going into his 3rd year in the NFL and his 2nd straight year under Ben Johnson, the floor Williams built last season shows why people are so high on him and his ceiling.
Williams’ accuracy will be a key area where improvement is needed to take that next step. Williams showed elite elusiveness in the pocket, and he always has that rocket arm.
Making the playoffs is a must, but as much as it is on Williams to make those leaps, it is also on Ryan Poles and the front office to get the right pieces, especially on defense.
Good times are ahead for Williams and his camp if he can get the nickname approved for merchandise and have on-field success.
