Jaylon Johnson Gets Real About Ben Johnson Culture Shift

Since 2010, the franchise’s best seasons have been few and far between. It was almost an acceptance to have players not buy in or coaches to let things slip.
Ben Johnson came in with a plan to help reshape the Bears back into the tough identity that has made past Bears teams successful.
Expectations Set from the Beginning
Before Ben Johnson ever put on a headset, he called each member of the roster. He wanted to let the players know he meant business.
“We’re not trying just to win, we’re trying to blow people out” is the quote that Jaylon took away from his conversation with his new head coach.
Keep in mind that the 2024 and 2025 teams had a lot of the same characters, but the difference you could tell was the coaching. It was the coaching that Caleb Williams wanted. It’s the coaching that the Bears needed.
What’s Ahead for Chicago
For the Bears to take the step toward becoming Super Bowl champions, they must obviously address the issues that have plagued them, especially in one key area I focused on previously: the Defensive Line.
The Bears were shredded in both the run and passing games at times because the line couldn’t generate enough pressure or close gaps.
The Super Bowl champion Seahawks were a catalyst for what a modern elite defense should look like. Credit to them for drafting and making trades underneath Mike MacDonald that culminated in a championship.
The NFL draft is coming up, and it’s time for the Bears to load up again, but this time on the side of the ball that is made to stop the league’s highest-powered offenses.
