A Heartbreaking Defeat

Just one night after a record-breaking performance by the Chicago Bulls, Chicago fell victim to a buzzer beating shot by AJ Griffin of the Atlanta Hawks in an over time thriller. The Bulls had a chance to win the game in the fourth quarter when Derrick Jones Jr went to the free throw line to attempt two free throws with the Bulls down by just a point. Unfortunately, Jones Jr was only able to convert on his first free throw, which lead to the game heading to overtime. In overtime, DeMar DeRozan was fouled on a three point attempt with just half a second left on the game clock. DeMar DeRozan would convert all three free throws, giving the Chicago Bulls a one point lead. At this point, Bulls fans were convinced that the game had been won, but Atlanta still had that half a second on the clock, just enough time for a quick jump shot. Atlanta would throw the ball up to AJ Griffin in the paint, who went up and over Derrick Jones Jr to give the Atlanta Hawks the winner just as the buzzer sounded off. Bulls players stood on the court motionless, completely enduring the feeling of shock.

The Chicago Bulls will go on to take on the New York Knicks twice this week at the United Center, and end the week in Minnesota looking to bounce back after the heartbreaker.
