Getting off to Inadequate Starts

A growing theme in the early NBA season has been the Chicago Bulls getting off to slow first quarter starts. The Bulls always seem to be down double digits entering the second quarter, and rely on their 2nd unit to will them back into the game. Yes, the Bulls were able to overcome a 19 point deficit against Boston, and turn it into an 18 point win, but this is not a sustainable way to play basketball. The Bulls had a 19 point deficit early on Saturday night against the 76ers, and worked their way back into the game, but ultimately they came up short. The starters have to be ready to compete from tip off, and propel the Bulls to have good starts to the game.

DeMar DeRozan Surpasses 20,000 Career Points

Congratulations to DeMar DeRozan, who became the 50th player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points. DeMar hit the milestone in San Antonio against his former team, the Spurs. Greg Popovich, and Spurs fans, showed great class, calling a timeout to give DeRozan a standing ovation for accomplishing the goal.

National TV

Tonight, the Chicago Bulls will take on the Brooklyn Nets at 6:30 PM (CT) on TNT, marking this the first national TV game of the year for the Chicago Bulls. The Nets fired head coach Steve Nash earlier today after the Nets poor start to the season with a record of 2-5. Jacque Vaughn will serve as the interim head coach for the Brooklyn Nets while they search for their next head coach. According to Shams Charania, Ime Udoka has emerged as the front-runner to become the next head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, with the Boston Celtics willing to let him go. Zach LaVine is expected to play tonight in the first header of a back to back, and will reportedly sit tomorrow night against the Charlotte Hornets. The Bulls must look to capitalize on the Nets going through a sudden coaching change, and leave Brooklyn with a win.
