Time to Make a Change
The Chicago Bulls have struggled this season, the Bulls sit at a measly 11-18 record as all-star voting begins. This is not what the front office or Bulls fans expected from a team that was looking to build on their first round exit last season. Despite missing starting point guard Lonzo Ball, the Bulls cannot expect him to be the single reason that turns their mediocre play around. With the NBA trade deadline arriving in less than two months, the Bulls front office will have to make the tough decision of blowing it up, or to target players that can help push the Bulls back on track. Arturas Karnisovas preached continuity in the off season, but it is clear that it’s either time to pack it up, or go all in.
Title Contending Targets
If the Chicago Bulls wish to turn the season around it’s time to call teams about players who are on the trading block. Some players who have been rumored to be targeted by contenders this season are Jae Crowder, Bojan Bogdanović, Immanuel Quickley, and Jordan Clarkson. These players are great role players that would bolster a title contending team’s roster. Looking at these targets, I believe that adding one, or even two of these players wouldn’t fix the Chicago Bulls’ issues.
Making the Decision to Rebuild
Arturas Karnisovas was propelled into a situation with a team that pushed him to accelerate the rebuild and make moves that would push the Bulls into a title contending team. Despite having their moments, the current core of LaVine, DeRozan, and Vucevic have been unable to lead the team to the elite level that was expected. Karnisovas would have a great opportunity to build a roster of his own liking from the ground up by dealing the Bulls core. Arturas must make his decision soon, as the trade deadline looms ahead.
